Ascension : Church News
Submitted by The Islander (Clive & Jenny Duncan) 18.02.2010 (Article Archived on 04.03.2010)

This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and marks the beginning of Lent.

This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and marks the beginning of Lent.  You are all invited to join us in St. Mary’s for Mass and Imposition of Ashes at 7 pm.

Last Sunday the Church was just about full for the Mass and two Baptisms.  It would be a good start for this Lent Season if it was the same for the service on Ash Wednesday.

We know that there are people who give up something for Lent, but we also need to look at what extra we can take on for Lent.   For example be more regular in our worship.  Spend more time in reading our bible daily.  Look at how we can become more involved with the work of the church. These are decisions we are left to make.   Lent is a season about decisions and it is up to us to decide on what will bring us closer to God.

Love and Prayers

Canon Clive
