Principal duties of the post include:

 

·         Counter postal, philatelic and parcel duties.

·        Worldwide philatelic sales.

·        Maintenance of stock and cash ledgers.

·        Processing of First Day Covers.

·        Collection and delivery of mail.

·        Preparation of mail for despatch.

 

Salary will be at Grade 4 (£7,007—£10,511 per annum) and will depend upon experience and ability.  Engagement will be on a household (only suitable for persons who are already living on Ascension with an accompanied status employee) or single status basis. If engaged on household status no accommodation or allowances will be provided, however if engaged on single status an allowance of £2,769 per annum will be payable and accommodation will be provided. 

The successful candidate must have:

·        GCSE’s in English and Maths in Grades C or above.

·        Customer service skills in client facing situations.

·        IT skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.

·        A minimum of 2 years postal experience.

·        Good communication and interpersonal skills.

·        Knowledge of the UPU Convention regarding the makeup of mails and a good grasp of philatelic terminology.

Responsibility:

·      Stamps and case stocks.

·      Receipt and recording of registered and insured items.
