Ascension : Church News
Submitted by The Islander (Clive & Jenny Duncan) 07.01.2010 (Article Archived on 21.01.2010)

WE SAW HIS STAR AS IT ROSE AND HAVE COME TO DO HIM HOMAGE.

THE EPIPHANY OF OUR LORD.

WE SAW HIS STAR AS IT ROSE AND HAVE COME TO DO HIM HOMAGE.

The Wise Men came searching for baby Jesus.  They found him, worshipped him and offered him gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh.

What we know about the wise men is that they had a particular interest in the stars and somehow through their studies God had let them know that something unusual had happened.  Someone special had been born, that someone special was a king.  We also know they were among the few who were expecting Jesus when he came.

Epiphany reminds us of the Revelation of Christ to the World. That Christ was revealed as the Saviour, not of a few people or a select group, but all people.  His light was the true light which enlightens all men.  We who have seen the light of Christ are to make known his presence in the world and the wonder of having his presence among us.

As we start this New Year let us open our eyes to Christ’s continuing presence.

Have a pleasant and enjoyable week.

Canon Clive.
