The NASA site was the gathering point for this week’s hash.  A good crowd turned up, probably hoping that it would be cooler up there.  After the usual warnings of loose footing, and a few tricky slopes, it was on-on back down the drive, but only for a brief time.  Then it was off cross-country until we found the track.  We had an easy bit for a short distance, until the first circle check.  Of course, this wasn’t going to last, and soon we were following the trail down towards Weatherpost.  The closer we got, the more worried the hounds all became.

A spot of confusion followed when it was discovered that no one had seen any hash for a while.  Seems that the FRB’s got themselves all geared up to tackle the mountain and ignored the lack of hash!  A bit of searching by the confused hares and hounds finally revealed the trail, which thankfully led away from the steep slope.  And to think that these were the same hares who had had a good laugh at last week’s hares trying to make a turn a circle check too soon!

And so the scramble began over the loose footing.  Not too many climbs but enough ups and downs along ledges to keep everyone on their toes.  A bar check and a back arrow added a few interesting touches.  After a particularly tough bit, where yet again, the hares managed to lead us astray, it was noticed that a couple of hounds were lagging a bit behind.  They finally caught up, and a couple decided to take an alternate route back, in order to avoid the next climb.  The others just plodded on.  The little hashers decided to take a detour, but they all managed to get to the top of the hill in one piece.  The guava and thorns took a toll on a few hashers who were leaking a bit at the end.

A short run back to the start awaited everyone at the top of the hill, and it was on to enjoy refreshments and a couple of Curry Queen’s famous curries.  Absolutely great, as usual.  Everyone relaxed and had a nice time.  Well, except for Welsh Rabbit, who survived the hash intact but managed to trip in the parking lot and hurt her finger.  Hope it’s better now.

Thanks to Pirate, Budweiser Belly and Talking Head for a great hash, and to Curry Queen for the superb grub.

Next Week: VC

Hares:  Fugitive & Joker (it’s Joker’s last hash with us!)
