Ascension : Public Notice
Submitted by The Islander (Ascension Island Government) 10.12.2009 (Article Archived on 24.12.2009)

EMERGENCY REPORTING NUMBER - 6333

The Fire Service wish to respectfully remind members of the general public that the above number is to be used solely for the purpose of reporting emergencies requiring our attendance.

Several general purpose and wrong number calls have been received through this number recently and as a concern may delay a genuine emergency call from getting through.

We would also ask that if you inadvertently dial a wrong number and find yourself connected to our emergency line to verbally inform us at the time rather than say nothing and disconnecting. This will then leave us in no doubt that it was a wrong number received and not an emergency call trying to get through.

Fire Service routine contact Tel numbers are as follows:

Fire Service Office: Tel: 6361

Fire Service Control/Crew Room: Tel: 6698

Thank you for your cooperation.

William MINTO

Senior Fire Officer
