MESSAGE FROM THE ADMINISTRATOR

I will be traveling to the UK on the 4th of December to attend the Overseas Territories Consultative Council (OTCC) in London on the 8th and 9th of December before going on leave, returning to Ascension on the 18th of January.

As is customary for longer absences the FCO is sending out a colleague to stand in for me. This is of course particularly important at this time.

The Acting Administrator is Alan Cobden.  He arrived on 30 November for a short handover with me.  Alan has been a career diplomat for nearly 40 years, and comes to Ascension from London where he has been involved in a range of projects in support of the UK's diplomatic missions in Africa.  His last overseas jobs were Consul-General in Alexandria, Egypt, and Deputy Consul-General in Los Angeles.  But during his long career he has served at a wide variety of posts around the world (although somehow managed to miss the south Atlantic!)

Alan is married with two children.  His daughter, a keen zoologist, is hoping to visit the Island during his stay.

Alan is looking forward to his brief spell on the Island, and to meeting many of you.

Last but not least I would like to wish all on Ascension a very happy Christmas and all best wishes for the New Year.

Ross Denny

Administrator
