VACANCY – FINANCE TEAM LEADER
A position of Post Office Team Leader has become available with the Ascension Island Government. The Ascension Island Government is seeking to recruit a highly motivated person with a willingness to demonstrate a high level of commitment to the job.
The Ascension Island Government is undergoing a restructuring and modernisation process aimed at delivering quality services representing value for money to the taxpayer. A key post in the new structure is Finance Team Leader. Responsible to and working closely with the Director of Resources the Team Leader will assist him in the preparation of accounts, managing reporting requirements and preparing financial forecasts. The duties will also include promoting the concepts of best value and continuous improvement in all government activities and promoting confidence, through delivery, of an internal review programme based upon key audit requirements. The post holder will also be instrumental in facilitating and supporting the Finance Department’s training and development programme as part of the staff appraisal system, ensuring compliance with tax ordinances and developing an internal audit system.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years experience working in a finance environment or an accountancy qualification to at least Technician level, have a full understanding of accruals or resource accounting, a sound understanding of budgeting and forecasting techniques, experience of supporting the delivery of statutory accounts, understanding and experience of an audit framework, excellent IT skills, GCSE’s in English and Maths at Grade C, knowledge of Sage Accounting Modules, be a strong team worker with the ability to interface with people at all levels and be willing to pursue personal development.
The post is offered as either a single or accompanied status contract for two years. Salary will depend upon qualifications and experience.
