Ascension : PUBLIC NOTICE
Submitted by The Islander (Ascension Island Government) 19.11.2009 (Article Archived on 03.12.2009)

The Ascension Island Government currently has three unoccupied houses that can be made available subject to certain conditions for periods from one month up to a maximum of three months.

The scheme is aimed exclusively at people already working on Ascension, and who pay Ascension Island taxes, but whose dependants cannot be brought here and supported by their employer due to terms of service. It is not aimed at any other category of visitor and is not intended as an alternative to commercial accommodation i.e., the Obsidian Hotel.

The three houses currently available for this purpose are located in Georgetown. They are furnished and equipped to a reasonable if basic standard. The employee wishing to accommodate his or her spouse/long term partner in one of the houses will pay a monthly permit fee, be responsible for utilities, telephone and other costs, and as is the case with any visitors to Ascension, be responsible for ensuring that the visitor(s) have full medical insurance to cover medical costs here and in the event of evacuation.

If you are interested in this possibility please contact the Administration Department of the Ascension Island Government on 7000 extension 130 for further details and to register your interest.
