PUBLIC NOTICE

   “Life Saving Throwing Strops”

On Monday 02 November 09 whilst conducting our routine inspections of the ‘Life Saving Throwing Strops’ provided for emergency use at English bay, it was identified and reported of extensive damage sustained to one of the cabinets used to contain and protect the strops.

From inspection it was evident that the damage to the cabinet (pictured right) was caused by deliberate and mindless vandalism resulting in the cabinet door having to be replaced at extra cost.

May we respectfully remind members of the public that these devices are provided by AIG as a safeguard to aid swimmers if experiencing difficulty in the water and should not be tampered with or used for any other purpose.

We would ask the public to report directly to us on Tel: 6361 or 6698 should they witness  anyone tampering with or using the devices for any purpose other than that to which they are designed and provided for.

The incident has been reported to the police.

Thank you for your cooperation.

William Minto

Senior Fire Officer
