Jesus sat and watched the people putting money into the treasury.

THE WIDOW’S TWO COINS (St. Marks Gospel 12: 38-44)

Jesus sat and watched the people putting money into the treasury. Many were rich and put in large sums whereas the poor widow came and put in two small coins.  This was all the money she possessed and could have held back one of the coins but instead she put in all she had to live on.  A great sacrifice to make for one who had no alternative means of support.

The lesson for us here is about giving.  It is not the size of what we give that counts, it is about the sacrifice we make in our giving to God.  We may feel that we have not much to offer but if we put all that we have at his disposal he can do great things with it.

Have a pleasant an enjoyable week.

Canon Clive.
