VACANCY – FACILITIES MANAGER

 

A position of Facilities Manager has become available with the Ascension Island Government. Ascension Island Government is seeking to recruit a highly motivated person with a willingness to demonstrate a high level of commitment to the job including out-of-hours work when necessary. 

 

Ascension Island Government is undergoing a restructuring and modernisation process aimed at delivering quality services representing value for money to the taxpayer. A key post in the new structure is Facilities Manager. Responsible to and working closely with the Director of Operations the Facilities Manager will lead a large team of technical staff to ensure the efficient and cost effective management of the government’s property assets, accommodation and related services and facilities. This will include acting as the government’s ‘Building Manager,’ ensuring statutory compliance and being the primary contact in respect of all estates maintenance and development issues, planned maintenance and related tasks. The incumbent will also play a key role in supporting the Director of Operations in embedding change and modernisation across the team.

 

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years experience working in a facilities management environment at managerial level, have a comprehensive knowledge of quality assurance, proven experience in planned and responsive maintenance systems, knowledge of health and safety legislation, excellent IT skills, sound project planning and budgeting skills, be a strong team worker with the ability to interface with people at all levels, be willing to pursue personal development, proven management skills and hold a valid Class A driving licence.

 

The post is offered as either a single or accompanied status contract for two years. Salary will depend upon qualifications and experience.
