The members of the Ascension Island Heritage Society would like to extend their sympathies to the family of Robert (Uncle Bob) Inglis, who passed away last month. Bob was a supporter of the Society, and gave of his time and efforts. His gifts to the Society include the building of the wall that holds the gun exhibit (formerly the “Islander” wall), and when he left the island he donated a WWII gun that he had unearthed from PanAm beach. He will be sadly missed.
Starting in November, the opening hours of the Fort Hayes Museum will change. On Saturdays, we will be opening from 1000 – 1200h. This will enable our volunteers who rely on the mess halls to get home in time for lunch! As well, we will be starting a pilot project where we will be opening from 1700 – 1900h on Monday evenings. This will give those visitors who are unable to make it to the museum on Saturday mornings a chance to drop by.
All the students and staff at Two Boats School would like to say congratulations to Loretta and Bluey on the birth of their baby son Joel and a new baby brother for Radka. He’s gorgeous!
Sports day PS – Thank you to Cyril Leo and VT for the loan of the van and generator for the sports day on Sunday.
