Ascension : Goodbye from Peter and Jean
Submitted by The Islander (Islander Internet Editor) 10.09.2009 (Article Archived on 24.09.2009)

Dear Editor, We will be retiring in St Helena on Wednesday 9th September, and would like to publicly through the Islander say goodbye.

We would like to thank the Ascension community as a whole over the past 8 months for your help and support in the disappearance of Iva. It is good to know that we are all there for one another when it matters. We will never forget it.

On a lighter note we would like to thank our customers at the Rock Shop, Fowler’s Hire Drive and fishing (when Peter caught any!) for all your support and hope to be of service to you when we meet again in St Helena.

We would like to thank VT Communications for Peter’s retirement party, and for agreeing to combine it so that we could invite friends outside the company.

Thanks to Peter, Phyllis and staff, and to Teresa for the decorations and the delicious cake which was all a surprise to us. Thanks also to Marcia for the banner.

To Cedie and the band including Lyn, a big thanks, for keeping everybody on the dance floor.

Thank you to everyone for showing up, and for the cards and gifts. We won’t “hoped you had a great time” because we know you did!!

We will be leaving with very fond memories of our long stay on Ascension, but am looking forward to living back in good old St Helena!

Peter will now be Gone Fishin’!!!

Take care,

Peter & Jean Fowler.
