The Ascension Island Government is seeking to recruit a Stores Assistant to work in the Central Stores

 

The Ascension Island Government is seeking to recruit a Stores Assistant to work in the Central Stores

Principal duties of the post include:

  • Unloading deliveries (freight cargo), moving and arranging stock and being responsible for the general tidiness of the store.
  • Assisting Senior Storekeeper with the daily operations in the store.
  • Carrying out daily physical stock checks.
  • Operating forklift truck as and when required, unloading freight cargo and packing goods for shipment.
  • Carrying out ship work and stevedore duties.

The post is offered as single or household status for two years (in the first instance). Salary—Grade 3 (£5,977—£9,480) and will depend upon qualifications and experience. If engaged on single status, a single allowance of £2,769 will be paid and accommodation will be provided.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be physically fit and not afraid of hard manual work .
  • Have a good standard of education and preferably have some experience of stores work.
  • Be computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft programmes (knowledge of the Sage system would also be an advantage).
  • Be prepared to learn Health & Safety (including manual handling) and other policies adopted by AIG.
  • Have the ability to work as a part of a small team.
  • Have a driving licence of classes A, B & J.
