Ascension : Church News
Submitted by The Islander (Clive & Jenny Duncan) 16.07.2009 (Article Archived on 30.07.2009)

It must have been a thrilling experience for the twelve disciples to share in the work of Jesus.

St. Marks Gospel Chapter 6: verses 7 – 13.

It must have been a thrilling experience for the twelve disciples to share in the work of Jesus.

As more and more people came to hear his message Jesus found that his time was far too short for him to get to all the places where people were still waiting to hear the Good News.  It was then when he called the twelve to share his work.

Jesus sent them in two’s which meant they had the support of each other when things were not going well.  As they were being sent out to spread the message and to do the things in Jesus

name, they were given specific instructions to travel lightly and to trust in God for all their needs.

God is still sending people out into the world to serve him and those who are called need the support of others in the same way as the disciples did.

Have an enjoyable week

Canon Clive.
