Ascension : Police Report
Submitted by The Islander (Police Ascension) 16.07.2009 (Article Archived on 30.07.2009)

During the course of our duties as Immigration Officers we had to perform a very regrettable and distasteful task.

POLICE  REPORT

THE EMERGENCY NUMBER FOR THE POLICE IS:

6666

This number is staffed 24/7 if it is a genuine emergency please use it.

Just because there is not a Police Officer in the Police Station it does not mean there are no officers on duty.

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

During the course of our duties as Immigration Officers we had to perform a very regrettable and distasteful task.  We and the RAF had to deny someone access to the aircraft flying to the UK the other day.  This was because the person’s passport had expired and was out of date, in effect they had no passport.  This was not nice for the person concerned, and the officer that turned them away.

PLEASE DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU, CHECK ALL YOUR DOCUMENTS ARE IN ORDER BEFORE TRAVELLING.

SPEEDING – ‘AGAIN’

We have received complaints of speeding through Two Boats Village especially by the school.

Also of vehicles causing an obstruction outside the school.

Please be aware we are looking at the problem and will be taking action.

SINCE OUR LAST REPORT

We have received a report of dangerous driving by the driver of a green coloured car through the bends by the Lizard, enquiries are being made into the matter.

A driver was breath tested following a reckless driving incident.

A search was carried out for a yachtsman who got into difficulties returning to his anchored yacht off the Pierhead.

Another driver was breath tested following a Road Traffic Collision.

Police attended a minor road collision.

Another collision occurred when a lorry collided with the water pipeline at the side of road from the Power Station at English Bay.  No one was injured but the water main was completely severed.  Police attended the scene and road safety measures were taken.

The Police have received a report of the loss of a black rucksack.  Anyone finding one please hand it in to the Police Station.

Dave SISMEY

Police Sergeant

13th July 2009.
