Ascension : News From St Marys Church Submitted by The Islander (Clive & Jenny Duncan) 09.07.2009 (Article Archived on 23.07.2009)
I was having a conversation with a couple who had just returned from St. Helena and was told about a service they had attended in the Cathedral.
It was a sung Eucharist. Immediately my thoughts went back to the time when I was a member of the Cathedral Choir and always looked forward to a Sung Eucharist whether it was a Sunday or some other special occasion.
Sitting in my vestry is a copy of A New Folk Mass that was sent to me from St. Helena. It has never been used because we do not have an organist. We now have a choir in place and hope the day will soon come when my prayer will be answered and we can have a sung Eucharist in our church.
God has bestowed on us gifts. To name just one, the gift of music. If you are one of those who is blessed with this great gift here is an opportunity for you to use it in God’s service.
Have a pleasant and enjoyable week.
Canon Clive.
