My wife, Jenny, and I are planning to leave for the UK......

Dear Friends,

My wife, Jenny, and I are planning to leave for the UK on the 31 January and return again on 13 February. Fr. Brian Birchmore, accompanied by his wife Daphne, will be arriving on 30 January and will cover for me during my absence. Fr. Brian is no newcomer to the Island a number of you will recall when he was here serving as Vicar of St. Mary's and Officiating Chaplain to the Forces before my arrival in May last year. It will be a pleasure to spend a day with Fr Brian & Daphne prior to our departure. Please remember them in your prayers as they prepare to come to Ascension Island.

Last week I had the privilege of meeting the Bishop to the Forces, The Rt. Rev. David O'Connor and the Command Chaplain, Padre Edward Core, The Dean of Windsor, when they passed through here on their way to the Falkland Islands. Although our meeting was very brief it gave us the opportunity to come to know each other and put a name to faces. Hopefully Padre Core and I will meet again in Amport House in February.
The services for the month of February will remain the same, i.e. Mid-week Mass on Wednesday evenings and Mass on Sunday Mornings at 10.30. There will be an additional service on Sunday 22 February when we will have a special Family Service for 'Thinking Day'.

With our love and prayers.

Canon Clive.
