Ascension : ST. MARY PARISH ASCENSION ISLAND.
Submitted by The Islander (Islander Internet Editor) 11.06.2009 (Article Archived on 25.06.2009)

When the Church Council met on Wednesday 3rd June it was agreed that the people of Ascension Island be made aware of how the Church is being financed here.

St. Mary's is a self-supporting Parish.  The only income it receives is from church collections, donations and fund raising here on Ascension. The Ascension Day Fair is an annual fund raiser but over the years income from this source has declined.

For the financial year ended 31 December 2008 it showed an Income of £22,377 and Expenditure of £23,264, a deficit of £887.  As a result the Church Council is targeted with the responsibility of reducing the expected deficit for the current financial year.

We trust that you will support us in our efforts as without your continued support we will not be in a financial position to meet the needs of the Parish.
