His Excellency the Governor is very appreciative of the contribution of the current Justices of the Peace (JPs) but to ensure appropriate cover he wishes to appoint additional Justices of the Peace to sit in the Ascension Magistrates’ Court.
His Excellency the Governor is very appreciative of the contribution of the current Justices of the Peace (JPs) but to ensure appropriate cover he wishes to appoint additional Justices of the Peace to sit in the Ascension Magistrates’ Court.
The Governor may appoint any person who appears to be suitable and able to perform the duties of the office. He wishes to ensure, so far as is practicable, that the panel of JPs contains a broad cross-section of the community. Members of the public are therefore invited to nominate people for appointment (you may nominate yourself, or another person). His Excellency will consider the nominations and decide which nominees should be appointed.
The office of JP is not salaried. Anyone wishing an informal discussion, or further information, is welcome to contact during normal office hours the Clerk of the Court:

Nominations should be sent to the Clerk of the Court, at the above address, to arrive by close of business on Friday 19th June 2009. There is no special form for this; a letter will be sufficient.
