ASCENSION: Quite an eventful week last week you may recall. Met chat went out with the following warning: there is a 10% chance of the showers on Wednesday increasing to 30% on Thursday; the showers will be heavy and likely to cause erosion. Alas no heavy rain fell - but we were treated to a pretty impressive lightning display during the early hours of Thursday morning. Latest information suggests the same sort of weather can be expected over the Easter weekend. Our mid-week communiqué on the new IFFY radar caught a few speeding people out – until they realised it was issued on April 1st.

ST. HELENA: A daily average of 5 hours of bright sun was recorded on St Helena last week with the warmest days being Tuesday & Wednesday. Trade winds kept the mean speed up at around 12 knots and brought light showers on most days.

UK: A quiet settled week for much of the UK with anticyclonic conditions affecting most districts, albeit rather cloudy conditions at the start of the week. For Brize Norton the sunniest day was Wednesday with 9.4 hours of bright sun – and that was also the warmest with 15.6° Celsius. No measurable rain was reported.

FALKLANDS: A rather cool changeable week with the maximum temperature not even making double figures. Most days saw mobile weather systems not far from the Islands and as a consequence it was a wet week with over 50 mm of rain recorded.
