Week 26

06/04/09

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Staffing

Ms Evans leaves Two Boats School at the end of this week to go to work in the Falklands.  Ms Evans has been at Two Boats School for just over 20 months and has brought us a number of new initiatives such as Read Write, Primary Challenge, RE Week, Makaton and Reiki.

On behalf of all the children, staff and parents I’d like to thank Ms Evans for all her hard work and wish her all the best of luck in the Falklands.

Ms Evans role as Senior Teacher Primary will be undertaken by Mrs Birkett.  At present we have not been able to appoint anyone for the temporary vacancy to cover Mrs Birkett although we still have some avenues we are pursuing.  I will be taking Ms Evans teaching commitment until the end of the summer term.

The substantive role of Teacher Year 3/4 will be advertised next week.  The delay in advertising was so that we could carry out a review of the changes to the Primary curriculum.  This has been completed and the area of teaching specialism we will be advertising for is in History and Geography.

Swim Gala

The swim gala takes place this Thursday from 9am onwards at Travellers Pool.  This will involve Middle School and Senior School in races.  Lower school, Reception and Nursery will be visiting the event for a short period of time during the morning.

Parents are invited to attend the event but are reminded that taking photographs is not permitted.

Primary Awards Assembly

This will take place on Wednesday at 8:45am.  Parents are asked to be in their seats between 8.30am and 8:40am please.

Nursery will be doing the primary class assembly on Tuesday 7th April and will be awarded their certificates then.

Tasty Tucker Lunches

Natalie regrets to inform parents that she will no longer be able to provide lunches for school with effect from Friday 10th April.

Year 9 Options

Reminder that year 9 students are due to hand in their option choices this week.

Year 9 SATs

Year 9 will be taking their SATs exams during the week of 18th May subject to the exam papers having arrived.

As you will no doubt be aware from the press this is the last year of SATs and school is looking at alternative forms of assessment at the end of Key Stage 3.  We are waiting to see what recommendations, if any, come from the UK.

Red House Book Club

A reminder that all orders and monies for Red House need to be with Tavie by Wednesday 8th April.

Middle School Art Club

Middle school Art Club will move to Tuesday after the Easter break and will restart on Tuesday 21st April.

Primary Challenge

Primary challenge is taking a short break for Easter and will be back on Monday 20th April.

We wish everyone a very happy Easter.

If you have any questions or queries about anything related to this newsletter please feel free to contact us at school and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Yours Sincerely,

Soo Matthews
