Ascension : Church News
Submitted by The Islander (Clive & Jenny Duncan) 02.04.2009 (Article Archived on 16.04.2009)

Last Sunday our church was full with young people and their families for Mothering Sunday.

Last Sunday our church was full with young people and their families for Mothering Sunday.  The uniformed organisations, looking smart, added to the number.  I guess the mothers must have felt proud of their children as they came up to collect a posy to give to them as a sign of their appreciation for all they have done and will continue to do for them in the days to come.

Thanks to WO Chris Owen for getting the daffodils for us and also his contact in the United Kingdom and Jenny for doing the posies.

LATE FATHER BRIAN BIRCHMORE.

By now most of you, if not all, will have heard of the death of Father Brian Birchmore in the United Kingdom on Monday 16 March.

Father Brian was Vicar in this Parish from the end of September, 2002 to the end of April 2003.  He returned again for a few weeks in February 2004 to cover for me when I was in Amport House.

A Requiem Mass will be held on Wednesday 25 March at 7 pm.  All are welcome.

Canon Clive.
