Week 21

23/02/09

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Mrs T Yon

Mrs T Yon leaves Two Boats School at the end of this week.  Mrs T Yon is leaving to work for Serco as the lifeguard at Travellers Pool and as security.  Mrs Yon has been at Two Boats School since November 2000 as a Teaching Assistant.  During this time Mrs Yon has mainly worked with Mike in year 6.

On behalf of all the staff and students at the school I would like to thank Mrs Yon for all her hard work at the school and wish her all the very best for the future in her new post.

Mrs Yon will still see the students when they go for their swimming lessons.

Mrs Yon’s post will be advertised shortly in the Islander, St Helena press, Penguin News and on the AIG website.

Middle 2 Mountain Trip

Middle 2 are going up the mountain with Stedson on Tuesday to look at the endemic plants there.  The class will then use their experience to help them do some persuasive writing in class.

They will leave school at 10am and return at 12pm.  They will need to take a hat, sunscreen, a drink and a snack with them.

Year 3 Trip to the Dentist

On Wednesday afternoon the year 3 children will be visiting Johnny the dentist at his clinic.  This is part of our Science work on healthy teeth and eating.  While there we will be learning about tooth decay, gum disease and how we can prevent it through good dental care.

Lower School Tie Dye

Just a reminder to parents that on Tuesday, lower school children will be experimenting with tie dying.  If you want your child to dye their own t shirt, pillow case or hankie etc. then please send it in a labelled bag.

Red House Books

We are still waiting on two more boxes of books to arrive.  Hopefully they will arrive this week.

Foundation Stage Profile Meeting

This Thursday from 6:30pm to 7:30pm there will be the meeting for all parents of children in Nursery and Reception classes.  At the meeting you will have the opportunity to see the Foundation Stage Profiles and you will be able to see how the Profile is built up over the course of Nursery and Reception.  The meeting will take place in Reception Class.  There will be a crèche in Nursery classroom.

Training Day

Friday 27th February is a training day so there will be no school for the children that day.

Primary Challenge  23rd February – 9th March

This week is the beginning of Lent. On Tuesday some people make pancakes to use up all the extra food that they have before Lent begins.

Reception and Years 1 & 2

Imagine you are making a huge pancake full of lots of delicious things to eat. Draw a picture of this fantastic pancake and write a description of it, to tell us all about it.

Middle School

Decide on what exciting ingredients you would use for your pancake, and write a description of it. You can illustrate it if you wish.

If you have any questions or queries about anything related to the start of the school year please feel free to contact us at school and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Yours Sincerely,

Soo Matthews
