ASCENSION: A fairly typical week for early February – mainly fair for much of the island with partly cloudy skies with a few showers over Green Mountain. Northwesterly swells propagating down from the North Atlantic affected coastal waters for much of the week maximising around 1.5 metres on Friday 6th.  Similar conditions are anticipated for the coming week.

ST. HELENA: Quite a pleasant week for St. Helena with a daily average of around 7 hours of bright sun. An average wind speed of close to 9 knots brought the mean temperature down to a pleasant 20.3ºC and there was just 2.0 mm of rainfall during the week.

UK: Quite an eventful week across the UK with many districts having the heaviest snowfall for 18 years. The southern half of England & Wales was plagued with snow & ice-generated transportation problems throughout the week. Overnight minimum temperatures dropping below minus 10º C towards the end of the week and as low as minus 17º C in the Highlands of Scotland.

FALKLANDS: A changeable week across the Falkland Islands with weather fronts bringing showers and outbreaks of rain on most days although totals didn’t amount to very much. It was quite bright & breezy between the showers and most days saw something of the sun – both Tuesday & Friday saw more than 4 hours of bright sun – top temperature of the week, 16.7ºC.
