Week 19

09/02/09

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Open day

Open Day is this Thursday from 8:30 to 12:00.  Over the page you will find details showing the activities going on in each classroom so that you can time your visits to see those elements of our work you are most interested in.

There will be another chance to come in and visit school during the working day later in the year.

After School and Lunchtime Clubs

Students in middle school have been given letters about an afternoon art club on Thursdays from 2.45 until 4pm.   The club begins this Thursday.  We’ll be having fun art and craft sessions exploring a range of media and techniques. It may be a little messy so watch this space! For further details please see Mrs Birkett.

On Tuesday lunchtimes, students are keen to hold a ‘chess club’.  The club is open to all students and will take place in class M1 at 12.30.  Any parental masters or amateurs are welcome to join us!

Valentine’s disco

All parents should have had a letter on Friday about the Valentines disco being organised by the School Council and staff.

If you are keen and able to help please let Mrs L Yon know.  If you didn’t get your letter please ask your child, look in their book bag or contact Tavie for a copy.

Parent Information Evenings

Parent information evenings are planned to cover the following topics –

Thursday 26th February

Early Years Foundation Stage Profile for parents of children in Nursery and Reception class.

Monday 16th February

Chichester College Evening – an early information evening for parents of year 10 students to find out Further Education post 16.

Week Beginning 9th or 16th March

Numeracy for Primary parents

CATs Tests

Letters about the Cognitive Ability Tests (CATs) were sent home with years 7, 8 and 9 last week.  They will be taking these tests on line in the next couple of weeks.  If you did not get your letter from your child please contact Tavie who will send you another one.

School Bus Times

It is important that all students are on time for the bus so that it can leave Georgetown on time.  Parents waiting with the younger children have to get to work and cannot leave the bus stop until their children are picked up by the bus.

As a reminder the Georgetown school bus service is shown below-

The second bus at Exiles is an estimate as it depends on all the senior students getting to the stop on time for the earlier bus.

I have asked the bus escorts to note down the names of any students who are persistently late and pass them on to me.

Primary Challenge 9th – 16th February

We haven’t had a Challenge for 2 weeks, as we have had RE week, then assessment week, but this week we are back again!

It is Valentines Day on Saturday.

The Challenge is the same for everyone

Make a red and pink collage picture of something that you like. You could have hearts, pink cakes, feathers, birds, and animals, toys, clothes, whatever you like. You could cut out red and pink pictures from magazines, draw some pictures yourself, or use red and pink materials, or gel pens, or paint. It is up to you to decide.

If you have any questions or queries about anything related to the start of the school year please feel free to contact us at school and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Yours Sincerely,

Soo Matthews

Headteacher
