requires a Postal Assistant to work at the

Georgetown Post Office

 

Principal duties of the post include:

1. To collect/deliver mail from the Airhead.

2. To clear Post Boxes at Georgetown, Airhead and Two          Boats.

3. To sort all incoming mail.

4. To issue mail.

5. To assist with the make up for despatch of all international mails.

6. To assist with the processing of official first day covers.

7. To assist with the processing of invoices and packing of overseas stamp orders.

8. To deliver mail for AIG.

9. To understudy the Postal Clerk and give assistance at the counter.

10.  Undertake any other related duties as required by the  Postmistress.

 

Salary will be at  Grade 2 (£4,162—£7,816 per annum) and will depend upon experience and ability.  Engagement will be on a household (only suitable for persons who are already living on Ascension with an accompanied status employee) or single status basis. If engaged on household status no accommodation or allowances will be provided, however if engaged on single status an appropriate allowance and accommodation will be provided. 

The successful candidate must  have:

· A good standard of  education.

· Good communication and interpersonal skills.

· Good customer service skills in client facing situations.

· A clean, valid driving licence for class A vehicles.

· The ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality.

· The ability to manage delivery of mails to a scheduled time structure.

Responsibility:

· Safe delivery of all mails collected.

· Occasionally responsible for the Postal Clerk’s stock and cash.
