Ascension : Police Activity Report
Submitted by The Islander (Police Ascension) 15.01.2009 (Article Archived on 29.01.2009)

Overall most people drove responsibly and there were no recorded injuries on our roads.

CHRISTMAS DRINK DRIVING CAMPAIGN

Overall most people drove responsibly and there were no recorded injuries on our roads.  However, four people were breath tested over the period and one car crash was recorded.

COMPLAINTS OF LITTERING

Complaints were received of littering around the Exiles Building in Georgetown.  Night duty officers were quick to spot the culprits who were duly apprehended.  Several donkeys will be appearing before the magistrates in due course.  Seriously, it was discovered the donkeys were accessing the litterbins during the night and steps have been taken to prevent them.

COMMUNITY ACTIVITY

During the school holidays, the Police arranged a rifle shooting session for some of the schoolchildren.  On Friday 2nd January 2009, several boys from Two Boats School were coached and allowed to shoot .22 rifles, on the rifle range at Georgetown.

THINKING OF TAKING YOUR DRIVING TEST

We in the Police Department want you to pass and become a safe driver.  To this end if about six weeks before you intend to take your driving test you can call into the Police Station and speak to Sergeant Dave SISMEY the driving examiner, he will advise you on what we expect from you so you can prepare yourself and know what driving skills you will be tested in.  There is not only the practical test but also the theory test to consider.

Dave SISMEY
Sergeant
Police Department
