Ascension: Typical conditions for this time of the year; overnight cloud developing over Green Mountain giving early morning showers although rainfall amounts were rather slender; Partly cloudy skies gave some dramatic sunsets particularly on Sunday 4th January. Weather for the coming week is expected to be very similar; overnight cloud will lead to light showers developing – more especially over the Mountain.
St Helena: Sunny spells and partly cloudy skies characterised the weather on St. Helena this last week – though the showers only amounted to 1.6mm for the week. Slightly more in the way of sunshine though, with a total of 37.6 hours for the week.
UK: A wintry scene across the UK with fog and frost very much in charge; freezing fog was very much in evidence across the Midlands last Wednesday & Thursday persisting all day in some places. Temperatures were as low as -12°C in parts of Scotland. The week ended with snow showers across the south-east.
Falklands: A bright and breezy week for the Falklands to see in the New Year – if not a tad on the cool side. Top temperature of the week was only 16.2°C and there was a ground frost last Monday morning. It was a week of sunny spells and scattered showers – though the total accumulation only amounted to 6.2 mm.
