Ascension : Grotto News - Thought For The Week - 4th Sunday of Advent
Submitted by The Islander (Shari Parkhill) 25.12.2008 (Article Archived on 08.01.2009)

Just as we have all been looking forward to the arrival of Christmas where we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus, my family has been eagerly anticipating the birth of our special little baby,

Just as we have all been looking forward to the arrival of Christmas where we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus, my family has been eagerly anticipating the birth of our special little baby, the child of my son Ryan and his partner Jessica.  This is the first grandchild for both families so you can imagine how special the event is.  We have known since the summer that the baby was a boy, but this didn’t diminish the anticipation one bit.  The fact that he was due just a couple of days before Christmas made it a little more special.  My first child, Ryan’s sister Madison, was born just a couple of days after Christmas, so I know first hand how special it is to have a Christmastime baby.

Dominik Daniel Kelly arrived at 1:59 p.m. Atlantic Time on Saturday, December 20th  ,in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.  He weighed in at 7 lbs, 8oz, and is, in the words of his aunt, my daughter Maggie, who was the new parents’ personal obstetrics nurse, absolutely perfect!  As you can imagine, everyone in the family is thrilled.

Dominik’s arrival is a wonderful way to celebrate Christmas for our family.  What better present could I ask for?  He is a shining light, and confirmation of the importance of family, and the promise of our future.  He is loved beyond measure already.

So, in this season of faith, and anticipation of the proof of that faith in the birth of our Saviour, I can affirm that the birth of a child can be all it takes to renew our faith, bring us the utmost joy, and demonstrate to us without a doubt that God is among us, is a part of us, and will always be there for us.

From all of my family, to all of yours, may you have a wonderful Christmas season, a renewal of faith, and peace in your life.  To those who are suffering at this time, most especially the Henry family, may we keep them in our thoughts and prayers, and be there for them.

Merry Christmas to one and all.  God bless each and every one of us, especially little Dominik as he starts his journey through this wonderful world.
