Ascension : Church News
Submitted by The Islander (Clive & Jenny Duncan) 25.12.2008 (Article Archived on 08.01.2009)

The message of the Angels to the Shepherds is familiar to a number of us.

NEWS OF GREAT JOY.

The message of the Angels to the Shepherds is familiar to a number of us.

“Do not be afraid.  Listen,  I bring you news of great joy, a joy to be shared by the whole nation.  Today in the town of David a saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.  And here is a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.”

The Shepherds having heard the message did not hesitate to follow the sign the angel had given them to find the baby Jesus for themselves.

The message is the same for us today as we celebrate the birth of Jesus.  Let us follow the example of the shepherds and go and find Jesus and welcome him into our lives this Christmas.

My wife Jenny and I wish you all a blessed Christmas. May the peace of Christ always reign in our hearts and in our homes.

Canon Clive
