A very select group turned up this week including the little ones at the Two Boats Water Tanks.
Hares: Bungalow Bill, Lanky & UTV
Hounds: Beaver Deva, Wood 'n' Pecker, Iceman, Twisted Tart, Mad Melvin, Stinky Nuts, Two Cocks, Uncle Fester, Who's Your Daddy, Old Golly Wodler, Nip 'n' Suck, Little Chuffer, Miss Mardy Pants, Mucky Digger, Mucky Princess, Kyle and Steve.
A special welcome back and bon voyage to Twisted Tart and Mad Melvin who were on their way through Ascension to St Helena
This week's hash had a very select handful of hashers in attendance. The rest had various excuses (more later). On with the briefing and the usual hazards identified, making sure to point out the multiple lacerations on the legs of those who set the hash the previous day (sounds really dramatic), maybe that's why some didn't turn up. After a short wait to see if anyone else turned up we set off just after 4.30pm.
The on-on was off down the road to the Two Boats road then across to the steps leading to the sports pitch. The FRB's were quickly up to the Conservation Hut and the first circle check, with the walkers not that far behind. Nip 'n' Suck and Old Golly Wodler took the little ones on their very own little hash. For the rest it was on-on up the Mountain Road for a short stretch then sharp right and down and up and down, down into the valley of the Mexican thorn and the Prickly Pear. The walkers and FRB's stayed pretty much together through this section. Next it was something of a bush tucker trial to extricate ourselves out of a dead-end and up over a rocky outcrop to pick up the hash on the other side, many of us hanging on precariously with our fingertips about 3 feet above ground level (that's a lot when you're my height).
The trail then went across more rocky bits until we had Travellers Hill in our sights and down again through some thicket and a climb up the Gabion Baskets and a short walk out onto the road. The walk up the road to the Comms hut and then the home arrow sending those who selected to do so to run up the water pipeline or the lazy ones to walk up the road back to the Water Tanks for the Apres.
Après. No one turned up for the Après, some people had other things to do; after all it is nearing Christmas so they can be excused. Mind you one excuse was 'I had to wash my hair because I'm going to the Works Christmas Dinner and need to get into the Christmas spirit' That's fine; but, the thirsty hashers wanted to know where their Christmas spirit was in the form of Captain Morgans for their shipy's, ah well just had to settle for MGD's
Thanks to Bungalow Bill for a really enjoyable hash and have a good Christmas see you for more of the same in the New Year.
Next week: Transmitter building near Butt Crater & since there are more Chrimbo parties the hares have promised it will be a short hash
Hares: Two Cocks & Steve
