Ascension : PUBLIC NOTICE - “LIFE SAVING THROWING STROPS”
Submitted by The Islander (Ascension Island Government) 04.12.2008 (Article Archived on 18.12.2008)

Ascension Island Government Fire & Sea Rescue Service has recently taken delivery of new life saving devices designed to rescue persons in difficulty from the water.

The devices “Life Saving Throwing Strops” (as pictured above) were purchased to replace the “Perry Buoys” as an improved method of rescue and have been made available for emergency use at the following locations;

Pier head x 2 (as above) English Bay x 2 and Comfortless Cove x 1

We respectfully remind members of the public that these devices are for emergency use only and must not be used for anything other than their intended purpose. Full instructions for use can be found on the front cover of the device along with after use instructions available inside of the container.

William Minto
