Ascension : BROWNIES VISIT THE AIRHEAD
Submitted by The Islander (Shari Parkhill) 30.10.2008 (Article Archived on 13.11.2008)

Brownies headed off on a great adventure. As part of their “World Traveler” badge,

On Monday, October 20, the girls of the 1st Ascension Brownies headed off on a great adventure.  As part of their “World Traveler” badge, the girls packed up for a trip to Mexico, their chosen destination.

After arriving at the Airhead, the girls were checked in and went through all the necessary security checks.  Their bags were scanned and the girls got a chance to see just what they look like on the computer screen as they pass through the scanner.  It was interesting to see what the girls had packed for their trip.

After everyone was cleared through Customs and got their unique “Ascension Island” passports stamped, it was off on their trip.  Up they went in the cargo loader, high into the sky!  They were all good at pretending that they were on their way to sunny Mexico.

All too soon, as always happens on vacations, the girls were back on the ground, and enjoying biscuits.  They all agreed that they had a great vacation.  The Brownies would like to thank Chris Owen, Gerald Yon, Dana Benjamin and Matt Oldfield for helping to make their visit to the Airhead loads of fun!

Although there are no Brownies meetings this week or next, the girls will be “lending a hand” at the annual beach cleanup on Saturday, November 1st.  They are asked to bring along their parents and siblings and friends, and all gather at the US Base BX building at 10:00 am sharp.  There will be a barbecue afterwards for all volunteers!  See you there!
