Ascension : Thank You

I would like to thank my Proposer Kitty George, Seconded by Sylvia Isaac and the voters for electing me to serve on the Island Council.

 As I said during the run-up to the Election I will endeavour to carry out my responsibilities to the best of my ability for the well being of Ascension and especially for the well being of the taxpayers who contribute highly towards the running of Ascension Island.

As we all know there were many disagreements between the former Island Council and Officials on several issues regarding Ascension Island.  I strongly believe that the major problem was the arrogant attitude of the former Governor, Administrator and overseas FCO officials.

 Since then we now have in Office Governor Gurr and Administrator Ross Denny and, following the swearing in of elected members, an Island Council.  This time I sincerely hope that all officials, including those within FCO in the UK, will work together with the Island Council where we all must have mutual respect for each other. It is equally important that we all carry out Council business demonstrating openness and transparency and accountability as without this progress will not be achieved. We must put the past behind us and move on for the good of Ascension Island and the people.
