Ascension : Ascension Island Council Election - 2008
Submitted by The Islander (Islander Internet Editor) 23.10.2008 (Article Archived on 06.11.2008)

Following the successful election of an Ascension Island Council on Tuesday 14th October and with me included as an elected member;

I would like to thank my Nomination Proposer Mr Mervyn Isaac and Seconder Mr David Benjamin for their positive actions and support respectively.  Furthermore I thank you the Ascension Island electorate for voting for my election, voting for a Council as a whole and the support that has been afforded to me by family and friends during this process.

The official swearing in of the Council is scheduled for the 27th October 2008.  From this date on I hope that my service will be of benefit to you as a Councillor to the end of my term.  I intend to hold advertised surgeries where people are openly are invited to come and discuss issues that are of importance to them in confidence.  Please, however do contact me as you so wish to discuss any such issues.

I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead over the next two years and actively representing you.

Howard H Peters (Councillor Elect)

19th October 2008.
