STUDENTS AT TWO BOATS SCHOOL

COUNTDOWN TO ELECTION DAY!

14th OCTOBER 2008

As the Island focuses on the forthcoming elections, the students at the school are preparing to elect their own councilors to the re-launched Two Boats School Council.

From Reception Class to Year 10, students are busy writing their manifestos in the hope of gaining a seat on the Council.

School Councils are now a world wide established way of enabling students to have a voice in the running of their school. As part of the citizenship curriculum, it provides the students with experience of how democracies operate and hopefully encourages them to become active citizens in their own communities when they are adults.  Although the school has had a council for some years, this will be the first time the students will go through democratic election by their peers.

For Year 11 students the position on the Council is even more prestigious, as the elected councilors will become Head Boy and Head Girl for the current academic year.

Look out for the results in a few weeks time!
