Ascension : Congratulations to Crown Counsel
Submitted by The Islander (Islander Internet Editor) 09.10.2008 (Article Archived on 23.10.2008)

I am delighted to be here at just the right time to extend congratulations and best wishes to Lorna Drummond, on news that she is to be appointed a Part-Time Sheriff in Scotland.

I am delighted to be here at just the right time to extend congratulations and best wishes to Lorna Drummond, on news that she is to be appointed a Part-Time Sheriff in Scotland.  Lorna has been with us as Crown Counsel since March 2007, and has done an excellent job.  I certainly will miss her, and her departure will be a loss to Ascension as a whole.

Lorna had already indicated that, for personal reasons, she would not seek renewal of her contract next March, but she will now be leaving early in January.  Arrangements to recruit her successor have been put in hand, and more information about that will be given in due course.

In the meantime, I know Lorna will continue to provide high quality advice, both during the remainder of my stay on Ascension and after I return to St. Helena.  She will have an important part to play in helping the new Council, and will also complete an outstanding case in our Court of Appeal – it will be a busy time.

Dated 2 October 2008

Ken Baddon

Attorney General
