Whilst on a holiday a family took us on a day’s tour of different places. One thing that still stands out in my mind was in one of the places we were visiting we came across a group of men standing on the side of the road. My first impression was that they must be waiting for transport only to be told that people came to this spot daily in the hope that someone would hire them for a day’s work.
At the time I was reminded of the parable Jesus told about the vineyard owner who needed workers and went to the cross roads several times that day to hire labour.
For the people who were listening to this parable it must have seemed a little unjust when it came for the late comers to receive the same amount as those who had worked all day.
However, in the story we can sense God’s generosity as he deals generously with everyone whether we are there from the beginning or come in later we will not be treated any differently.
Have enjoyable week.
Canon Clive.
Thanks to all who took part in the moon light stroll aid of St. Mary’s Church Funds last Tuesday evening. £70 was raised from this event.
