Ascension : General Election Nomination Day

A General Election will be held on 14 October 2008 if there are more than seven (7) candidates nominated.

 

GENERAL ELECTION:

 

NOMINATION DAY

 

30th SEPTEMBER 2008

 

A General Election will be held on 14 October 2008 if there are more than seven (7) candidates nominated.  The final day to receive nominations for candidates to represent you on the Island Council is Tuesday 30th September 2008.

 

The name of the candidate, the proposer and the seconder should be on the Register of Electors. 

 

The signatures of the proposer and seconder should be witnessed in the presence of a Justice of the Peace or by the Returning Officer. The candidate’s signature may be witnessed by someone of his or her choice.

 

To find out if you are on the Register of Electors please contact the Assistant Registration Officer, Mrs Wendy Greentree on telephone number 7000 extension 113. 

 

Justices of the Peace who will be resident on the Island during this period are: -

 

Mrs Caroline Yon

Mr Mal Moss

Mr Stedson Stroud, MBE

Mrs Suzanne Edwards

 

Nomination forms can be obtained from the Clerks in the Administrator’s Office or Mrs Sandra Benjamin, Clerk of Council.  Completed Nomination forms will be accepted during normal working hours by the Returning Officer, Mrs Catherine Cranfield, Administrator’s Office, Georgetown, from Wednesday 24th September until 4:00 pm on Tuesday 30th September 2008.
