Ascension : Thank You From Elizabeth Hill
Submitted by The Islander (Islander Internet Editor) 11.09.2008 (Article Archived on 25.09.2008)

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Islander volunteers with whom I have had the pleasure to print and collate over the last three years.

To All at the Islander

I think I have printed my last Islander.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Islander volunteers with whom I have had the pleasure to print and collate over the last three years.

I would expecially like to thank Kaz Powers who had the  task of teaching me how the Islander is printed in the first place. Kaz, you left the Island a while ago but thanks all the same for the well learnt lessons. Secondly, I would like to thank my co-printer Sylvia Henry who has had to put up with me every month while printing over the last year. We have been co-printers with some good runs and some terrible runs. After one run we both vowed that we would never ever print again but somehow Jackie had us down on the list the following month and I don't know why, but we both pitched up and yes, we were back printing yet again. We did develop a very good system which worked well until the last print when I was over-confident and forgot to print the picture last and all went wrong yet again.

As the volunteers know, the Islander machines can't count, but Sylvia and I have the pleasure of holding the cleanest print run. Sylvia, long may you hold that record for many years to come. Sylvia, thank you for printing with me.

Best wishes to all at the Islander.

Elizabeth Hill
