This week’s hashers met up in the Crystal Bay car park for an early start to the hash. One or two new faces this week. With a warning about prickly things and a few worried looks exchanged by those in shorts, the on on was called and we all raced off into the Guava, only to be met a few minutes later with a back arrow! The hounds spread in all directions looking for the way, finally coming back together into more guava and on towards Green Mountain, picking up a few new arrivals on the way. It was down and up and over onto a track and a road then back into the prickly bushes before stopping at a circle check at a cabin. I’m Easy enlightened us with the tale that the cabin was once occupied by an American who did not like the sea. It looked like the perfect spot for some crazy party with its small roof terrace and cupboards once full of old baked beans! But some of the hounds had already forged ahead (did they see that circle check???) and it was on on until we stopped shortly after to take in the stunning views of the rocks down the valley and over towards the Nasa site. A further cry and we were on and up and up through a steep climb and some very spiky plants until we were through some trees and found ourselves heading up on Ruperts. Then it was a turn off to the left and before we knew it we were all on the war path. I’m Easy pointed out that only a very few people on the Island know of that path but there are certainly a few more now! Soon the cars were in sight and with Tough Cookie and Ariel squealing to the car park, it was back down to some hash business.
The circle of friendship was drawn and some more guinea pigs presented for the namings. First up was Ryan who was introduced by Lanky as someone who had been a bit of a bully with his emails and was named Filipino Punisher. Then it was Simon’s turn. With a story involving naked chasing of a bunny by the devoted beekeeper, he was duly named Buzz Bunny. Twins Danni and Luke followed with the names Will Jump and Won’t Jump after their experience down at the pierhead. Finally, Milan was named Dozey. Welcome to you all.

Since it was most of the Nutters very very last hash (except Stinky Nuts), it was time to burn the boots. The boots, or did we spot some shoes too?, were thrown into the fire and went up in a blaze. It soon became clear that Plain Nuts was going to miss his most of all. Nutters, we are all truly sorry to see you go and wish you a happy and nutty future. You will all be hugely missed. We will keep an eye on Stinky Nuts when you are away!
Next week’s hash: Butt Crater
Hares: Major and Whisky Chaser Time: 4.30pm start. Please bring a plate
