Ascension : Conservation Weekly - EXPLORERS VISIT DEVIL’S RIDING SCHOOL

It’s time again for the Ascension Explorers! This yearly series of activities gives Ascension’s children insight into the wildlife and habitats of the island.

Last week the Ascension Explorers visited Devil’s Riding School.  The children learned about the history and geology of the crater.  They ventured all the way to the Letterbox and back and did a fantastic job!  (Note: the picture about was taken just a few years ago, before the wild tobacco started growing in the crater).

As a reminder for parents, the schedule for the Explorers is posted below along with a duplicate copy of the permission slip for any latecomers.  The activities planned for winter 2008 holidays are as follows (please ring the Conservation Dept. with any queries: x6359):
