The Ascension Island Government requires the services of a Housemaid to assist in the smooth and efficient running of the Administrator's Residence at Green Mountain.
Principal duties of the post include:
· Cleaning, dusting and polishing throughout the Residency to a very high standard
· Preparing bedrooms
· Day to day laundry and ironing, plus additional laundry when required
· Setting tables for dinner parties or buffets
· Waiting at table and at receptions during official functions
· Undertaking the smooth running of the Residency during the absence of the Manager
· Other additional duties as may be required by the Residency Manager.
Hours of work are generally 8am to 5pm - Monday to Friday, however there will be a need to work additional hours when official functions are being hosted by the Administrator. It is a requirement of the post that the successful candidate be accommodated at the Maid's Cottage located in the Residency compound on Green Mountain. A private vehicle will therefore be a necessity.
The job is `single status' and graded at Level 2 with a minimum and maximum salary band of £4,162 - £7,816 (before tax) per annum. The successful applicant's salary will fall within this salary band and will depend on ability and experience. In addition to the salary, a single allowance of £2,728 per annum will be paid. Uniforms will be provided.
The successful candidate will have relevant experience in household duties, be fully motivated and adaptable and be able to work as a part of a team and be prepared to work flexible hours. In addition to these qualities, the position would ideally suit a person who is well mannered, smart and with an easy smile (essential customer service qualities). A valid driving licence of class A is also essential.
