Ascension : School Leavers and Brownie Adventures Submitted by The Islander (Islander Internet Editor) 03.07.2008 (Article Archived on 17.07.2008)
The evening of Saturday 28th June saw Two Boats Club Restaurant decorated beautifully for the Year 11’s leaving dinner party. And the 1st Ascension Brownie Guides recently trekked out to Dampier’s Drip, continuing their adventures on the way to their Culture Badge.
They dodged the thorn trees, and investigated the caves near Bates Tank. They didn’t think that they would want to live there, though.
At the tank, they were swallowed up by the tobacco plants, but bravely soldiered on to explore while they heard the story of the tank and why it was built.
Then it was back to the Two Boats Soccer pitch for treats before they headed home. Poor Ellen & Robyn had to walk when the Bug refused to start! It was great fun. All the work is completed for their badge, and it will be awarded along with several others the girls have earned at their year-end closing celebration.
It’s been a great year with great girls! We’ve enjoyed all the fun and adventures.

YEAR 11’S LEAVING DINNER PARTY AT TWO BOATS CLUB
Photographs were taken with the students then Mrs. Isabel Andrews the former teacher of this class gave a speech on each of the students:- Corey, Stephen, Andreas, Jerry-Lee, Shane, Anisa and Danielle. This was followed by some good jokes about them from Johnny Hobson who knew most of them from the time they came out of the womb to the young Gents and Ladies they have grown into.
Once the speeches were out of the way a delicious 3 course meal was served. Ms. Soo Matthews the Head Teacher then gave a speech and asks Mrs. Nicola Kerslake, the Acting Administrator to present each student with their Achievement Folder. Corey the Head Boy then spoke on behalf of himself, Anisa the Head Girl and fellow students in thanking the teachers for the time they were taught by them at Two Boats School. A presentation took place in which Anisa presented Mrs. Isabel Andrews with a gift from the class.
Many of us felt emotional – who wouldn’t knowing another member of the family has left school which just means one thing – we parents are getting older!!!
On behalf of the parents I would like to express our sincere thanks to Mrs. Isabel Andrews and Ms, Soo Matthews for organising such a splendid evening and having it done to perfection. Thank you also to Mrs. Delphia Leo and her staff for the delicious meal.
