Ascension : Guides Sponsored Walk
Submitted by The Islander (Cheryl Anthony) 26.06.2008 (Article Archived on 10.07.2008)

Although the rain was threatening to pour all the Guides, Rainbows, Leaders, mums and Paul turned up for the Sponsor Walk in aid of the mini bus fund.

Although the rain was threatening to pour all the Guides, Rainbows, Leaders, mums and Paul turned up for the Sponsor Walk in aid of the mini bus fund.  It was a shame that the Brownies could not join us but the little Rainbows stride along happily with their mums and leaders enjoying every minute of it.  I’ve not seen such enthusiastic children!!  They made it to the Police Office in less then an hour.  By the time I reached the destination they were licking lollies and excited they had won the Guides!!!  Jasmine Bennett was overjoyed to be the first out of the rainbows followed swiftly by Amber Williams.  Well done Rainbows.

The Guides walk was longer and Danielle Bennett was the first to arrive leaving her dad Paul behind!!  I very politely ask Paul to walk behind all the girls so no one would be lingering and I think this made his day so he could just stride along and kept in step with Shannon Yon.  The morning ended with the girls enjoying a milk lolly from Tasty Tucker.

I would just like to take this opportunity and thank all those who participated and

sponsored the girls.

A special thank you to Rosie and Tracy for bringing their Rainbows and to the mums

who accompanied them.  An account of what money we raised will be published shortly.

Cheryl
