Ascension : LADYBIRDS SPONSORED WALK
Submitted by The Islander (Nathan Prince) 05.06.2008 (Article Archived on 19.06.2008)

On 13th April at 10am on a lovely sunny morning Mum's, Dad's, Guardians, children, toddler's and babies of Ladybirds Playgroup gathered at the end of the runway wearing trainers and sports gear ready for the off, as they were all taking part in a sponsered walk to help raise funds for the Ascension Day Fair.

The little ones completed it in any way they chose, the Reception children ran all the way, having lots of fun, while some of the smaller ones got carried in parents arms or pushed along in their buggies. The finishing line was at the American flag poles, then afterwards everyone headed down to Turtleshell beach hut where the BBQ was fired up with lots of delicious treats. The event was enjoyed by all with a well earned play on the beach while the adults relaxed the afternoon away. The total amount raised was £515.26 with a donation of £50 going to the ADF.A very well done to everyone who took part, especially those with the little legs.
