Ascension : News From St Mary's Church
Submitted by The Islander (Clive & Jenny Duncan) 05.06.2008 (Article Archived on 19.06.2008)

I can recall looking out of my office window to where a lorry was parked and in the process of being unloaded.

There was a lady standing close by watching the men.  The winch man who was operating the winch saw her and asked her to move further away as it was dangerous where she was standing.  The good thing is she didn’t hesitate and obeyed and moved further on.

In St. Matthew’s Gospel (7:24-27) Jesus tells the story about two builders.  The wise one built his house on solid ground but the other built his house on Sandy Ground.

Just like the wise builder if we want to build our lives on solid rock then we must listen to and obey God’s word and in doing so can look forward to a life that is built on a solid foundation.

Have a pleasant week.

Canon Clive
