VC1 v Saints Club. Game Postponed. Will be played mid week. Match report will be included in next week’s results.

VC2 v 2 Boats Club

2 Boats Club started the game with just 8 players.  VC2’s Dave Bagley collected the ball from a corner in the 2 boats penalty area and finished well to earn VC2 an early lead.  The remainder of the half saw both teams battling hard but neither creating any clear cut chances.

2 Boats began the Second half in the worst possible way.  2 boats stand in left back Dennis Francis saw his attempted clearance beat his Keeper and end up in the back of his own net for VC2’s Second goal.  VC2 went three up when Phillip Yon found space in the 2 boats penalty area and fired his shot across goal and into the far corner.  2 Boats club pushed forward in search of a way back into the game.  VC2 sat back and were happy to defend their 3 goal advantage.  2 Boats club did manage a consolation goal.  The ball broke to Paul Fuller on the right side of VC2’s penalty area and his powerful shot found its way into the VC2 goal.  Ashley Lawrence of VC2 was awarded the Man of the Match award.  Final Score “VC2” 3 “2 Boats Club” 1

NAAFI 1 v NAAFI 2

After a Draw in last weeks first round it was still undecided as to who was the better NAAFI team.  The game saw 5 goals, 2 of which were penalties.

NAAFI 1 went ahead through Geordie Peters.  He broke through the NAAFI 2 Defence and went on to beat the keeper for the first goal of the match.  NAAFI 2 fought back and was awarded a penalty when Julian Fuller fowled Gavin Pare in the NAAFI Penalty area.  Gav’ Converted the penalty to bring both NAAFI teams level.

NAAFI 1 was quickest of the mark at the start of the second half.  Man of the Match Geordie peters took advantage of a defensive mix up between the NAAFI 2 defenders and pounced to score his second goal of the match.  NAAFI 2 got back into the game through top goal scorer Gavin Pare he controlled a cross on the edge of the NAAFI 1 penalty area and unleashed a brilliant shot to score and bring his side level.  With the Game at 2 goals a piece both sides pushed hard to earn the win.  NAAFI 1 became eventual winners.  A NAAFI 2 defender was judged to have handled the ball in his penalty area and Carlyn Yon of NAAFI 1 Stepped up and converted the penalty to give his side the win.  Final Score “NAAFI 1” 3 “NAAFI 2” 2
