Ascension : Church News
Submitted by The Islander (Gavin Yon) 29.11.2003 (Article Archived on 13.12.2003)

Another week has passed by and saw many of our friends leaving to enjoy a well-earned vacation.

Dear Friends

Another week has passed by and saw many of our friends leaving to enjoy a well-earned vacation. My wife and I had the privilege of meeting up with a number of people who were passing through, one in particular we knew back in St. Helena many years ago. It is always nice to meet old friends and to reminiscent on past events.

It was a pleasure to have Captain Rodney Young and some of his crew in church last Wednesday for a Memorial Service for the late Brian Moyce who passed away in the UK recently. Brian will undoubtedly be remembered by many of his friends here on Ascension Island. We send our condolences to his wife, Linda and her family.

The Church Council met last Monday evening. The Planned Giving Scheme that was launched in October was discussed and I am pleased to say that a few more people have joined the scheme since. The Xmas services was also a topic of discussion. These will be announced later.

This week I would like to share with you 'My Motto for life' that I came across in a magazine.

DON'T WORRY ABOUT DUST AND HOUSEWORK - IT'LL

STILL BE HERE IN A HUNDRED YEARS TIME - YOU WON'T.

A REAL FRIEND IS ONE WHO WALKS IN WHEN THE REST

OF THE WORLD WALKS OUT.

Have a pleasant week.

Canon Clive.
